About The Book
Born a Wolf is an adventure story about a little girl, Discardia who was born different. Discardia struggled to adjust to the world she found herself in but through the help of some friends she made along the way and a little magic, she was able to overcome.
About Oyinkansola Oyelakin
Oyinkansola “Oyin” Oyelakin is currently a 5th grader at Alyssa Ferguson Elementary School, Missouri city, Texas. She is on the A/B honor roll and an inductee of the National Elementary Honor Society. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Drs. Tosin & Tomide Oyelakin, and is the first of 2 children.
Oyin as she is fondly called by all developed a passion for creative arts at a very early age and this passion is what gave rise to Born a Wolf, her first published work but not her first story. Born a Wolf was created from Oyin writing down her thoughts and doodling when she was 7 years old, and the story gradually took shape. Oyin describes it “as an imaginary story put together from some of the things I like, read or watch”.
Oyin has a wonderful imagination and is always crafting stories and drawing. Her 4th grade teacher once noted her creative skills stating she designs her books and papers with wonderful images. Oyin is dedicated to her craft and is always looking for ways to improve her skills. She is a great influence on her younger sister, Teniola who is also developing a strong interest in creative arts.
Oyin is an avid animal lover who hopes to be a veterinarian/animal rescuer in future, even as she continues to write and publish her works. Oyin loves graphic novels and hopes to also publish graphic novels in future. When she is not drawing, writing, or spending time with her sister, Oyin can be found singing and is a member of her elementary school choir. She currently resides in Sienna, Missouri city, Texas. Oyin is quite excited about her first published work and cannot wait to share her work with everyone.

I just loved reading Oyin's book. She has so much talent and is full of creative ideas.
"Born a Wolf" is an adventurous tale of a girl who was born part wolf and part human. Although she thought her toughest moments would be navigating through high school, she soon realizes there is a whole other world for her. With the help of a few new and unusual friends, Discarda sets forth on a mission to defeat her biggest adversary yet and discover who she is truly meant to be.
This creative short story keeps you engaged with its suspenseful events while having you chuckle at the witty dialogue. If you are a fan of fantasy books, you will not be disappointed by "Born a Wolf."

Born a Wolf is a delightful story about a young girl who develops confidence and learns to embrace her uniqueness. Children of all ages can learn the message of loving who you are through this fun adventure. Readers will enjoy following Discarda through a magical adventure that is filled with exciting twists and turns.
This story will truly hold your attention throughout the entire text and you won’t want to put it down without discovering if Discarda will find what will help protect her from bullies. As a teacher, I can’t wait to share this book with my third grade students to teach theme, character development and other elements of literature.
